Yhprum’s Law

Ever heard of Yhprum’s Law? It’s Murphy’s Law spelled backwards and its meaning flips the script too: “𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁.”

During a counselling lecture, I once mixed up the order of topics. I was supposed to start with types of therapy, but I began with the importance of empathy instead. At first, I worried it would confuse the students. But something unexpected happened. They started sharing stories about the times they felt heard, or times they didn’t. The room shifted. Suddenly, therapy wasn’t just a method. It was a feeling.

When we later discussed CBT and psychodynamic approaches, they saw the heart behind the techniques. That small mistake made the lesson more human and more real.

Yhprum’s Law isn’t about ignoring problems. It’s about trusting that sometimes, even when things don’t go as planned, they go better than expected.

Have you ever had a moment like that? I’d love to hear your story.
